Charley Phillips’ bowling action may resemble men’s great Lasith Malinga, but even he would have struggled to match the heights Phillips hit in 2026.
Utilising a slingy style that puts observers in mind of the legendary Malinga, Phillips enjoyed a breakout 2026, claiming 41 wickets across formats to help The Blaze to a historic treble.
In addition, Phillips was also one of three players who completed a clean sweep of every trophy after winning The Hundred with Trent Rockets alongside Georgia Elwiss and Emma Jones.
She is a product of the Sunrisers regional pathway, having played her junior cricket with Berkshire and then Middlesex, before representing the senior team of Hertfordshire.
In September 2024, prior to the transition from the regional structure to the current county-based system, Phillips made the move north to join The Blaze.
After a 2025 season and subsequent winter that saw her develop her game under the tutelage of Luke Fletcher, she broke out in 2026 with a maiden five-wicket haul away to Durham.
A call-up to England A for a series against India A also followed, before she further enhanced her standing with nine wickets in the Rockets women’s victorious Hundred campaign.
