A recipient of the ICC Associate Player of the Decade award, Kathryn Bryce is one of the most vital members of The Blaze’s squad and proudly takes the field alongside her younger sister and fellow Scottish international, Sarah.

Bryce is widely known as one of the most successful captains in Scotland’s history, having led the side to successive ICC T20 World Cups in 2024 and 2026.

Starting out playing tennis and hockey in Edinburgh, before finding cricket - with her own discovery leading Sarah into the sport too - the sisters represented their school at cricket before moving to England to study at Loughborough University.

In Kathryn’s case, that meant completing a degree in sports science, which she did in 2021 - the same year in which she became the first cricketer from Scotland, male or female, to enter the top ten of the ICC rankings.

Having represented Warwickshire, Lincolnshire, and Derbyshire, Bryce signed up to play for Lightning at the start of the regional domestic model in 2020, before making her bow in The Hundred for Trent Rockets a year later.

Since then, she has remained in the East Midlands through Lightning’s transition to being known as The Blaze, as well as joining Manchester Originals (now Super Giants) in The Hundred in 2023.

In 2026, alongside captaining Scotland to their first-ever win at a major ICC tournament when they defeated Ireland, Bryce played an important role in bringing home a historic treble for The Blaze with almost 650 runs and 24 wickets across formats.
