Yorkshire Phoenix 180-7 (Swann 2-31)
Notts Outlaws 184-4 (Swann 62, Will Smith 55)
Notts Outlaws won by six wickets
With Stephen Fleming resting an elbow injury, Read was captain for the day and sat back and enjoyed the show as Swann and Will Smith set us on the road to victory at Headingley.
The pair smashed 101 from the first eight overs against Yorkshire, with Swann making 62 from just 25 balls with nine fours and three sixes, and Smith making his second consecutive half-century with 55 off 40 balls.
Said Read: "We got off to a terrific start going after a big total and the two openers really set up the chase for us.
"Swann has been getting starts in one-day cricket and getting scores around 20 without going on to anything big. Hopefully this will set him on the way to some decent innings when we get back into the totesport League."
Despite the flying start, the target of 181 still left Read and Samit Patel with nine runs to get off the final over, which they managed with two balls to spare.
Read added: "Even though it was a small boundary, going at nine an over isn?t easy. The target might have been higher but for us removing Ian Harvey first ball, which was a big bonus.
"All-in-all, it was a good performance from the boys and it?s raised our spirits before we head to Derby for the final game."
