Gloucestershire Gladiators 87 (Younis Khan 3-5)
Notts Outlaws 88-2 (Singh 30*)

Notts Outlaws won by eight wickets

The Director of Cricket is looking for at least four wins from our last five games to avoid relegation and admits a win away to runaway leaders Essex would be a great lift to the side.

He said: ?Beating Gloucestershire has given us a chance of missing the drop and if we were to get something out of a very tough trip to Chelmsford it would be a real bonus.

?Our other games are against teams who are in big trouble just like us and there will be plenty of movement at the bottom of the table. It?s important we don?t get distracted and concentrate on our own matches.?

On a difficult batting track at Cheltenham College, we skittled out the hosts for just 87, with the wickets shared around the seamers and part-time leg spinner Younis Khan picking up three scalps inside four overs.

Khan?s expertise against spin shone through as he guided us home by eight wickets.

Newell added: ?We bowled pretty well on a wicket where 150 would probably have been a winning total to defend. It wasn?t a good track for one-day cricket and gave far too much help to the spinners.

?In that respect it was a bonus that our seamers got early wickets. Younis Khan?s experience against spin was crucial because batting certainly wasn?t any easier in our innings.?
