The 27-year-old will arrive at Trent Bridge in time for the Championship match with Surrey at home on July 26 and Director of Cricket Mick Newell expects the Test star to be a valuable addition to the squad.

Said Newell: ?The contract is signed and sealed and I think Younis will prove to be an excellent replacement for Stephen. Nine hundreds in 37 Tests is not to be sniffed at.

?His Test record in the past 12 months has been terrific and Chris Cairns recommended him to me when it became clear Stephen was going to be away. He?s also got the right kind of character to fit in with the dressing room atmosphere, which was also important.?

Khan will play in five Championship matches and three totesport League games. His last appearance will be against Gloucestershire in the Championship at Trent Bridge.
