With the sun breaking through at 2.30pm this afternoon, Head Groundsman Steve Birks and his team have been working hard to clear water from the outfield.
Umpires Ian Gould and Alan Whitehead made an inspection of the pitch at 4pm and decided the game can start on time providing there is no further rain.
If rain does force the game to be abandoned without any play, tickets purchased in advance will be valid for any Frizzell County Championship, totesport League or zonal Twenty20 Cup matches played at Trent Bridge this season.
Please note this does not include the Twenty20 quarter-finals or the npower Test Match in August. There is no need to return or exchange your ticket for today's match, simply present it with ticket stub attached at the gate on the day of the match of your choice.
