Kent won by 196 runs

Despite our heavy defeat at Trent Bridge, Fleming was still upbeat about our title chances and thinks moving straight on to another game will get the loss out of our system.

He said: "While it's disappointing to lose we have got to remember what a fine start we've had to the season and the fact we are still at the right end of the table.

"We were a little bit caught out by the pitch for our first innings but I believe it's just a blip and we can bounce back quickly against Gloucestershire.

"We will hopefully have Greg Smith and Graeme Swann back for the game and that will definitely help us. The bowlers gave it their all against Kent but we were missing a couple of frontline seamers while they had the first choice attack and in the end that was the difference.

"Having Smith and Swann in the side will take some of the pressure off Ryan Sidebottom and we'll still head down to Bristol full of confidence."

Sidebottom had Kent 192-7 on the first day but without the support bowling couldn't finish them off until they had passed 300.

We collapsed after David Hussey ran out Darren Bicknell and never got going in our unlikely chase of a mammoth 416 for victory.

New loan signing Oliver Newby, who had bowled with pace and enthusiasm, also showed some talent with the bat as he thumped 36 from 37 balls at the death.
