Coach Paul Johnson is confident a spell with the World Cricket Academy in Mumbai will prove a real boost to our Academy players.
Johnson is currently in India along with Academy director Chris Tolley
to coach the youngsters, as well as senior left-arm spinners Rob Ferley
and Samit Patel.
And he’s been hugely impressed by the facilities at the world-famous
spin school, saying: “We’ve seen some good, hard work from the boys,
who are all in good spirits, and I think that’s got a lot to do with
the nets and coaches here.
“The stadium here has held Test Matches, and the surfaces are excellent
for training - everything you need is on site and I can’t speak highly
enough about it.
“We’ve had good nets sessions and the local coaches went through some
interesting fielding drills. It was interesting from my point of view
to watch them at work, using different coaching techniques to myself
and Toll while still getting the same idea across.
“I think the benefits of the trip are already clear and hopefully it can help everyone push on further.”
