Bill Russell has promised to ‘give it my best shot’
following his election as our new president at the Annual General
Meeting last night. He succeeds our former chairman and president
Albert Bocking, who died last summer.
Russell, a chartered insurance broker by trade, has been a member
at Trent Bridge for more than 50 years and is a former captain of
the Second XI.
He also played for Notts Amateurs for many years and is a member of
the MCC and the Lord’s Taverners.
He said: “In the past 50 years I have enjoyed many high
points while supporting the team at Trent Bridge - and also had to
suffer occasionally.
“I would like to thank the members for electing me as their
President. It’s a challenging time and I promise I will give
it my best shot, and I will do what I can to assist the committee
and the chief executive and his talented team.”
