Notts retained their lead at the top of Division One of the LV County Championship despite suffering a rain-affected draw against Somerset at Taunton.
Needing to add 169 to their overnight score of 62-3, Notts reached 125-4 in their second innings before rain stopped play.
Samit Patel finished on 42 not out, leaving Notts 106 short of their target.
“If the weather had permitted, we would have backed ourselves to win the game but these things happen,” said Notts Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
“We wanted to win to put pressure on the teams around us and although we bowled well, we didn’t have time to reach our target.”
