Nottinghamshire insisted today that David Hussey is contracted to play for them this summer.

The Aussie star is being linked with the Indian Premier League and reports have suggested that he has already committed to play in the tournament, which takes place from April 18 until June 1.

If that happened it would cause him to miss Notts’ first five Championship matches, and all eight group matches in the Friends Provident Trophy.

Said Director of Cricket Mick Newell: “We are currently talking to David and his advisors so I would prefer not to comment at this stage, other than to say that he signed a new two-year contract with us after the end of last season.”
