New Zealand fast bowler Iain O’Brien has been included in the Worcestershire Second XI to face Nottinghamshire Second XI at Notts Sports Club.

Will Jefferson and Rob Ferley will open the batting for Notts with Alex Hales, Ian Saxelby and Luke Fletcher away with England Under 19’s, AJ Harris, Mark Footitt and Andy Carter will lead the bowling attack.

“Will knows the form and Bilal Shafayat has taken his place in the first team on merit,” said Noon, who will hand debuts to Matt Higgins and former Leicestershire youngster Zafron Ali.

“He has to make sure that he is performing for us so that when Mick next needs a batsmen, he’s the one in form.

“We’ve got three players away on international duty and that creates opportunities for other players to stake a claim.

“Scott Elstone is beginning to fulfil his potential and Rob Ferley is in good form.”
