Notts Outlaws Director of Cricket Mick Newell will unveil a new-look top order when his side face Yorkshre Carnegie in the Twenty20 Cup at Headingley this evening.

New Zealand International Andre Adams could open the batting alongside Will Jefferson while Bilal Shafayat has been preferred to four-day specialist Mark Wagh.

Newell will make a late decision on his final selection and will include Chris Cairns if his registration is approved by the ECB.

“It’s been difficult to select the squad and it will be even harder to select the eleven players that will start the match but I have leant towards experienced players and those that suit the format,” said Newell.

“It is important to include as many players as possible that can perform at least two roles in the side whether it be batting, bowling or specialist fielding.

“We have had a good week in training and we have a lot of players that can clear the ropes which stands us in good stead.”

Notts face Yorkshire Carnegie at Headingley this evening before Durham Dynamos visit Trent Bridge on Saturday.

Derbyshire Phantoms, Leicestershire Foxes and Lancashire Lightning complete the Northern Division.

“Yorkshire are a very strong side and they have Michael Vaughan and Matthew Hoggard available to them who are experienced international players,” said Newell.

“It is important to make a strong start and it would be an advantage if we were to win at least two of our first three fixtures because it can be hard to catch up if you fall behind the pack.”
