Notts Academy maintained their progress towards winning the Bassetlaw Championship with a seven-wicket victory over Glapwell on Saturday.

Jake Ball continued his wicket taking streak with 4-41 and Akhil Patel took 5-32 to bowl Glapwell out for 181 in 44.1 overs.

An opening stand of 79 between Patel and Sam Kelsall saw Notts on their way to victory, before a slight stutter as Patel was out for 46, soon followed by Jason Mohammed (4) and Kelsall (28) to leave them on 89-3.

Ben McGuire adopted his usual aggressive approach to hit an unbeaten 52 with 2 sixes and 6 fours well supported by Sam Wood with a studied 23 as the target was reached without any further wickets lost.

The return match takes place on Bank Holiday Monday at the Notts Sports Club with the final home match of the season against the only team to have beaten the Academy  so far, Notts and Arnold, on Saturday 5th September.
