Coetzer, the visitor’s centurion in the Trophy Match on Monday was the first to go, clean bowled by Footitt. Turner followed, caught by Akhil Patel at second slip and 5-2 became 30-3 as Hales held a catch at first slip to dismiss keeper Luke Goddard to give Footitt his third wicket. Footitt then took a diving catch at mid wicket to dismiss Ben Harmison and claimed a further wicket when Stokes was caught in the slips by Kevin O'Brien.
Scott Borthwick scored 30 before Andrew Carter continued the attack having him leg before and then took three further wickets to end with 4-55. Footitt then came back to claim his fifth victim having Hindmarch lbw.
Notts lost Akhil Patel for no score before bad light brought play to a close with Notts on 6-1.
