Notts Director of Cricket Mick Newell hopes that the development of talented young players will be accelerated by the reformation of the club’s Bassetlaw League team.
Notts Academy will join the 12 team competition in April, playing their home fixtures at Lady Bay.
“The winners of the Bassetlaw league go into the Notts Premier League and that has to be our initial aim,” said Newell.
“We ran a similar team ten years ago and we feel that it could play an important role in the development of talented young players.
“It’s part of an effort to speed up the development of players that we see potential in and if they aspire to be professional cricketers then it’s important that they are exposed to men’s cricket.”
Notts Assistant Coach Wayne Noon will coach and play for the side.
