Notts allrounder Samit Patel believes that the presence of England players in the Indian Premier League will enhance the nation’s prospects of success in June’s ICC World Twenty20.

Patel helped launch the release of a new wave of tickets for the summer’s biggest international tournament which will be co-hosted at Trent Bridge, Lord’s and The Oval and says that match experience in India will improve his cricket.

“At the top level, everyone can play and games are won by staying strong under pressure,” said Patel.

“The IPL provides an opportunity to develop skills by playing alongside great players and it will serve as a great warm-up for the ICC World Twenty20.

“In June, we’ll have the advantage of playing in home conditions, we know the pitches and we’ll do our homework. We’re looking to win the tournament and we’ll do everything we can to prepare for it.”

England are grouped with Pakistan and the Netherlands, who they will face in the tournament’s opening game at Lord’s on Friday 5th June.

Trent Bridge will host 11 tournament fixtures including five double-headers with the women’s semi-final preceding the men’s semi-final on Friday 19 June.

The finals will be held at Lord’s on Friday 21st June.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday 29th January from icc-cricket.com and the tournament ticket hotline (0844 847 2020).
