Andre Adams has signed a two-year contract extension with Nottinghamshire.

The New Zealand international was the county’s leading wicket taker in the LV= County Championship this season with 43 at an average of 28.46 and also contributed 300 runs.

He spent a short spell at Trent Bridge in 2007 and re-joined Notts midway through the 2008 season.

“Andre has been the pick of our bowlers this season and he’s maintained his form when others have struggled,” said Newell.

“We need to get the best out of our bowlers and Andre has shown that he is a very important player for us and has the ability to contribute in all competitions.

“He’ll feel that he could have done a bit more in one day matches this season but he will be an important part of our team for at least two more seasons.”

Adams, 34, will spend the winter playing grade cricket in Sydney.
