Notts Outlaws captain David Hussey has underlined his determination to lead his team to victory in Monday’s Friends Provident t20 quarter-final against Sussex Sharks at Trent Bridge (play starts 7.25pm).

Notts will progress to finals day if they overcome Sussex under floodlights and Hussey, the team’s leading run-scorer with 481 to his name, says that the game plan will remain unchanged.

“It means a lot to me to captain this team and now we’re one win from Finals Day and three wins from the trophy so we made to keep calm, maintain our focus and make the most of the opportunity that we’ve created for ourselves,” said Hussey.

“It’s knockout cricket now but we want to maintain the same routine that has served us well so far and stick with our aggressive game plan.

“We’ve always had plenty of talent in Twenty20 teams at Notts but we’ve been able to find another gear this season.”

Hussey’s boundary-laden knocks in the middle order have helped Notts to maintain their momentum but the Australian hitter is keen to acknowledge the contributions of established stars and emerging talents.

“We’re blessed with two of the best left-arm bowlers in the world in Ryan and Dirk, Graeme White and Steven Mullaney have been two of the finds of the season and we’ve all seen what Samit Patel and Alex Hales can offer the side,” he said.

“Darren Pattinson has made big changes to his bowling style and executed them nicely and everyone has played their part by making a big effort to adapt their game for Twenty20 cricket.”

Notts remain unbeaten in Friends Provident t20 cricket at Trent Bridge this season having won seven and tied one of their home group fixtures.
