ICC World Twenty20 winner Ryan Sidebottom has urged Nottinghamshire sports fans to unite behind Notts Outlaws and England on Sunday.

Notts have brought forward the start time of their Friends Provident t20 game against Warwickshire Bears to 11am with free admission for under 16s and discounts in place for adults and senior citizens.

The game is scheduled to finish at 1.45pm giving supporters ample time to prepare for England’s FIFA World Cup clash against Germany at 3pm.

“I am very patriotic and we all need to unite behind England and support them throughout the World Cup,” said Sidebottom, who watched yesterday’s group stage win over Slovenia with his England teammates at the Swalec Stadium.

“It means everything to me to play for England and winning a global tournament for your country is the ultimate prize. The England football team have some exceptional individuals and we need them to go out there and give it everything on Sunday.”

Sidebottom was a central figure in England’s victory in the ICC World Twenty20 and has backed Notts Outlaws to continue their excellent run in Twenty20 cricket.

“Notts have made a great start and there are a lot of players in the squad who are capable of winning matches,” he said.

“David Hussey and Dirk Nannes have been excellent and there are a lot of in-form players in the team as well.

“There’s a long way to go in the competition but Notts are well placed to qualify for the quarter-finals if they can maintain the standards that have been set.”

Notts hope to attract big crowds in their back to back home matches at Trent Bridge with Durham Dynamos visiting on Friday (play starts 6pm) and Warwickshire Bears visiting on Sunday (play starts 11am).
