Chris Read has confirmed that David Hussey will captain Notts Outlaws in the Friends Provident t20 this season.

Hussey will join Australia team mate Dirk Nannes as the Outlaws’ overseas players in the competition and Read is keen that his experience in the format is put to good use.

“Captaining in Twenty20 cricket can be very intense and I feel that it’s best for me and the team if I take a break and draw on David Hussey’s experience,” said Read.

“David has an excellent record in this format and he’ll have his own ideas on how the team should approach matches that I’m sure we’ll all learn from.

“He’ll have my full support and the support of every player in the dressing room.”

Read will retain the club captaincy and will continue to lead Notts in the LV= County Championship and Clydesdale Bank 40.

Notts Outlaws begin their home fixtures in the Friends Provident t20 against Derbyshire Falcons on Friday 11th June.
