Notts Premier League
Clifton Village 203-9 (50 overs) beat Notts Academy 141 ( 43.5 overs)
Clifton 20pts Notts Academy 5pts

In questionable light, the Academy just failed to last out the final hour losing with only 7 balls remaining against Clifton.

The game was plagued by stoppages for rain in which 71 minutes were lost which reduced the match to a timed game.

The Academy inserted the home side and bowled well as a team on a wicket with variable bounce which found batsmen giving catches into the covers as the ball seemed to stop on them.

Tom Lungley 33 and Dan Birch 30 along with 29 apiece from Richard Harris and Martin Weightman were the top scorers for Clifton

Andrew Parkin- Coates was the pick of the Academy attack with 3- 36 from 12 overs with two overs of the innings remaining Clifton were on 188-6 but good bowling at the death from Brett Hutton 2-26 and Dan Cumming 2-34 nearly prevented them from gaining maximum batting points.

Whereas Clifton only had the one stoppage for rain , the Academy had to come off three times for varying degrees of rain . As Clifton put pressure on the batsmen as they tried to ensure that they got their 50 overs bowled, the inexperience of the visitors showed as they succumbed to the spin of Liam Andrews 5-42 & the experience of Tom Lungley 3-33.

Tom Rowe 47 batted well and Sam Wood 42 not out tried along with Dan Cumming to bat out the final overs but Cumming was out leg before with just one ball of the overs in the last hour to be bowled although there would have been time for a further over
