Karl Turner will make his home debut when Notts Outlaws face Sri Lanka A in a 50-over tour match at Trent Bridge on Wednesday after committing to the club on a non-contract basis until the end of the season (play starts 10.45am).

Turner opened the batting alongside Sam Kelsall in last week's LV= County Championship draw at Durham, his former club, after impressing during an extended trial period with Nottinghamshire's Second Eleven.

"Karl is a player that we feel is well worth taking a look at and he has applied himself well over the past few weeks," said Newell.

"We plan to sit down with him at the end of the season and discuss his future and in the mean time he will have an opportunity to demonstrate his ability at the top of the order."

Riki Wessels will keep wicket and join Turner at the top of the order to take on the tourists. Senior players have been rested with call-ups for Akhil Patel, Brett Hutton and Jake Ball.

Newell is yet to decide who will captain the team although Steven Mullaney and Scott Elstone have previously led Nottinghamshire’s Second Eleven and Academy respectively.

Admission to the game is free for all supporters.
