Neil Edwards followed up his first innings century with a nicely paced 46 to give Nottinghamshire’s Second Eleven a 163 run lead at the close of day two of the Championship match against Surrey.

An unbroken partnership between Jake Ball (46) and Oli Pringle (34), a New Zealander playing club cricket for Skegness CC and a personal friend of Andre Adams, added impetus to a first innings total of 343/9 declared before Surrey posted 272/9 declared.

Pringle (3/44) and Fletcher (3/43) were the pick of the Nottinghamshire bowlers.

The dismissals of Edwards and Karl Turner (17) will see Sam Kelsall and Adeel Shafique resume on the final day.
