Riki Wessels hit the winning runs as Notts Outlaws chased a Duckworth-Lewis target to preserve their unbeaten record in the Friends Life t20.

With an uncertain forecast, Outlaws captain Adam Voges won the toss and fielded and was rewarded with a victory target of 49 from five overs after the extended rain break that followed Lancashire's 178/4.

Clean hitting from Michael Lumb (22 from 12 balls) laid the foundations for victory with Wessels hitting 5 fours in his unbeaten 8-ball 21.

Lancashire had made a solid start with a 119-run opening stand between Tom Smith and man of the match Stephen Moore. Darren Pattinson and Harry Gurney were the pick of the Notts bowlers with Andy Carter and Steven Mullaney also taking one apiece.

"It's hard to form a game plan when there is rain around but Adam is an experienced captain and he knew that we would be best off letting them bat and waiting to see what we needed to do," said Pattinson.

"When we heard the revised target I wasn't sure if it was generous or not but the batters were on top of it straight away and played at the right pace to get us through."
