Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell has underlined the importance of of good home form ahead of this evening's Friends Life t20 match against Durham Dynamos at Trent Bridge.

Newell oversaw an intra-squad practice match at Trent Bridge on Wednesday with Adam Voges, Michael Lumb, Chris Read and James Taylor amongst the runs and has been boosted by the news that Samit Patel will be available to play after being left out of the England team to face Australia at Lord's.

"We had a practice match on one of the international wickets which provided much more realistic scenarios than we can create in a net," said Newell.

"We've got four teams battling for two guaranteed spots and if we play as well as we can then I'm pretty confident we can get through the group.

"We have traditionally played well at Trent Bridge because we know the ground and the pitches and hopefully we can capitalise on that."

Newell has named a 13-man squad with Luke Fletcher and Scott Elstone added to the eleven that began Sunday's match against Yorkshire at Scarborough.
