Nottinghamshire spinner Graeme White has signed a new two-year contract.

White arrived at Trent Bridge from Northamptonshire in 2010 and has established himself as a regular in the Notts Outlaws limited overs sides.

A season best LV= County Championship haul of 4-97 against Surrey at The Oval underlined his development and he hopes to gain more exposure in four day cricket.

“I’ve had to be patient in terms of four day cricket because Samit Patel is ahead of me and we rarely play two spinners at Trent Bridge but I’ve been pleased with what I’ve been able to do when I’ve had my chance,” said White.

“I want to play in all formats and Samit’s success with England will create more opportunities for me.

“The Friends Life t20 matches at Trent Bridge have been particularly enjoyable for me and I would hope that we can reach finals day again soon.”

Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell has been encouraged by White’s development since his arrival from Wantage Road.

“Graeme’s bowling has steadily improved and we’re more than confident in handing him the ball in all formats,” said Newell.

“He’s key to the way we play t20 cricket and when he gets a chance with the red ball it’s important that he grasps it because the spin bowling in Samit’s absence will be key to any success that we have.”
