Alex Hales has been in the runs over the start of the t20 campaign but they have not come without an incident or two along the way.
His partnership with David Hussey on Monday extended the Outlaws' fine form in white-ball competitions.
However, it was when he was partnering James Taylor that the most memorable moment of the night took place. Facing New Zealander Mitchell McClenaghan, he sent a quick delivery toward the boundary, only to see most of his bat fly in the opposite direction.
“I must have swung the bat too hard and it hit near the toe, snapping it in two with one part going one way and I was left with the handle,” Hales said.
“It has had some wear and tear over the past six months and it was probably time to call it a day.”
Hales was then required to run three with just the bat handle as the ball stopped just short of the boundary.

Hales' prominence in the shortest format was epitomised by his inclusion in the England t20 series against New Zealand, scoring 39 in the first game.
“It’s a good format to be involved in and I think it suits my natural game to go out there and attack the bowling. I have enjoyed the games so far.”
The start of the domestic t20 saw Hales score 24 against Leicestershire Foxes.
His 49 on Monday followed and the campaign has seen Hales scoring quick runs consistently at the top of the order helping the Outlaws remain unbeaten.
“A lot of t20 in the county season is about momentum and we have done well in the group stages over the past couple of years.
“We always aim to have a bit of momentum in our stride and I think we have that going forward into the weekend and beyond.”
Nottinghamshire face back to back t20 fixtures against Derbyshire and Durham on Friday and Saturday before returning to LV= County Championship action at Surrey from Monday.
