Nottinghamshire bowler Andy Carter is set to miss the rest of the season with a stress fracture.

The Lincolnshire-born quick hasn't featured in competitive action since the Yorkshire Bank 40 victory against Worcestershire in May due to the back problem.

"My target is to get back for the last three weeks of the season but that seems doubtful and I don't want to rush the recovery," he said.

"I'm still having tests to assess the extent of it but I'm going to be sidelined for quite a while."

Carter has taken 49 wickets in 18 first class matches for Nottinghamshire.
