Since the end of the season and the customary holiday period, the time has come for preparations for the 2014 season to move into full swing. With players jetting off across the globe for experience in testing conditions, we thought we'd use their own words, via Twitter, to chronicle events.

Steven Mullaney joined up with Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity for their survival effort, and found goings tough on his first outing. Firstly on the receiving end of a four-ball duck, trapped LBW in somewhat… suspect manner, he claims:

 

 

He was joined in Bangladesh by Riki Wessels, who, after playing for the Khulna Royal Bengals in this year’s BPL, has signed for Abahani.

James Taylor has spent the last week tweeting pictures from Perth. Out with Claremonts Nedlands Tigers, it appears that while promising a winter of strength and conditioning, the beaches are excellent and the food impressive:

 

 

It’s not all fun in the sun, however, and a sizeable cohort of players have reported for duty at Trent Bridge. Nottingham in November promises single-digit temperatures, not that it has dampened Alex Hales' enthusiasm:

 

 

Harry Gurney, in Australia as part of the England touring party to offer left-armed practice to the English batsmen, offered sympathy as only a man in his position could:

It's nice to see that despite travelling across the world to be part of the biggest series in Cricket, there's always time for Candy Crush.
