Nottinghamshire batsman James Taylor has been named in England’s squad to face India in their sole T20 International at Edgbaston on Sunday 7 August.

Calls for Taylor to represent his country have increased hugely this summer following an excellent summer in white-ball cricket for Notts Outlaws. A series of destructive innings have propelled his side to impressive victories in both the NatWest T20 Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup.

Taylor will join fellow Outlaws Harry Gurney and Alex Hales in England’s 14-man squad, as well as Surrey’s Jason Roy.

“This one off NatWest International T20 provides us with an opportunity to look at players who have impressed recently in domestic cricket and gives them a chance to test themselves on the international stage against high quality opposition,” said National Selector James Whitaker.

“I would like to wish Eoin Morgan and his squad all the very best against a strong Indian side.”

Morgan will captain the side in the absence of Stuart Broad, who has undertaken surgery on his problematic knee.

Taylor will still be available to represent Notts Outlaws in their Royal London One-Day Cup semi-final against Durham Jets on Saturday 6 August, before joining the national side following the culmination of the match.

Official supporters coaches bound for Notts Outlaws' Royal London One-Day Cup semi-final will leave Trent Bridge at 6.15am on Saturday 6 September.

Places will cost £30 for adults and £15 for under 16s and can be booked online by clicking here.

Coach tickets will remain on general sale until Thursday.
