Young Nottinghamshire keeper Tom Moores has been named in a 17-man England Development Programme squad to take to the UAE for a an intensive ten-day training camp.

Moores, son of England Head Coach Peter, has been impressing for Nottinghamshire’s second eleven and academy sides both with the bat and behind the stumps.

The EDP will be involved in two competitive playing tours in the new year, with an Under 17 team travelling to the UAE to face Pakistan U17, before an England Under 19 side will tour Australia in March & April.

“The EDP training camp to the UAE serves two important purposes,” said Andy Hurry, the ECB’s new Head of the EDP.

“First, it provides an early opportunity to expose this group of young players to challenging sub-continental conditions in a world-class training environment at the ICC Academy.

“Secondly, it allows us to work with the country’s highest potential young players in an England cricket environment for a concentrated period of time.

“Together, the overall aim of the ten days is to facilitate a progression in skill execution, alongside developing an appreciation of what it takes to train and play at the highest level.”
