Nottinghamshire's Stuart Broad has become the first English player to take two Test hat-tricks.

But there was no repeat of his raucous celebrations against India at Trent Bridge as he failed to realise his feat against the Sri Lankans at Headingley having taken three consecutive wickets across two overs.

"I heard that bloke on the Tannoy and was wondering why he mentioned the last ball of the previous over," said Broad.

"That's when I realised it was a hat-trick."

Broad becomes only the fourth bowler in Test history to take two hat-tricks.
