After wrapping up the Investec Ashes series and regaining the urn at Trent Bridge, fourth Test hero Stuart Broad is determined to maintain their winning run at the Oval when the series final begins on Thursday.

Broad took career-best figures of 8-15 in the first innings in Nottingham as Australia were bowled out for 60, England eventually winning the match by an innings and 78 runs.

Australia were left to regroup with a match at Northamptonshire whilst England were given a few extra days off but Broad ensured that it has only fuelled their desire to win the series 4-1.

"There is huge determination,” he said.

"Cooky called us all on Tuesday afternoon, which was only a couple of days after the Trent Bridge Test, and said 'I've enjoyed a couple of days off but I'm sat here on my farm and I've got a burning desire to make this 4-1 and I just want to make sure we're all on the same page. Let's get back training.'

"We're training an extra day today to make sure we're in the best possible shape to win, because at the end of the day it's an Ashes Test against Australia.

“Regardless of the series result, you want to put in performances and get a victory."

With the series won, England have the chance to experiment at The Oval with their winter travels to the UAE in the back of their minds.

However, Broad says all the players are desperate to contribute in the final Test as the hosts aim to make history by winning four Ashes Test matches for the first time on home soil.

"We've not gathered as a group yet," added Broad. "Jimmy will be fighting to be fit - he'll be desperate to play.

"It's such an enjoyable environment to be a part of at the moment that every one is desperate to get on that field and get going. It's a great conundrum to have when you've got strength in depth and we have got that at the minute."
