Heading in to the biggest match of the season, the Royal London One-Day Cup quarter final on Tuesday against Durham, Notts Outlaws hold a 2-1 advantage in games played between the two sides in 2015.

With the return LV= County Championship fixture to come, Durham and Notts have faced off twice in the NatWest T20 Blast tournament and once in the four-day format.

Here we look back at the three fixtures which highlight the Outlaws' preference to facing their Northern counterparts in the One-Day arena.

Sun 10 May - Wed 13 May, LVCC - Durham Win By Six Wickets

Durham wouldn't have been counting on a Riki Wessels century after putting Nottinghamshire in during the first few weeks of the season on a seamer-friendly pitch, but that is exactly what they got.

After having the visitors 40-4 and then 102-7, the evergreen Chris Rushworth ripping through the top order, Nottinghamshire's 2014 player of the season got to work in setting a competitive first innings score.

His 117, coupled with 41 from Vernon Philander, lifted the visitors to 245 all out, giving the young Nottinghamshire bowling attack something to bowl at.

Guided by Vernon Philander (3-27) the young pace duo of Luke Wood (3-58) and Brett Hutton (3-44) ripped through the Durham line up, bowling them out for 163, a first innings lead of 82.

Recent England hero Mark Wood ensured his side has a chaseable fourth innings target though, taking 4-39 as Notts fell to 178 all out in their second innings, Wessels adding 42* to his first innings century and James Taylor scoring 45.

Durham's batsmen had renewed application in the fourth innings, Keaton Jennings, Wood, Scott Borthwick and Michael Richardson all scoring fifties as the hosts raced to 261-4 to win by six wickets.

Sun 31 May, T20 - Outlaws Win By 15 Runs

Riki Wessels once again came to the fore when the sides met in the NatWest T20 Blast on Sunday 31 May in a game that also saw Darren Sammy make his Outlaws debut.

Having lost the toss and been asked to bat first, the Outlaws fell to 18-2 early on as Alex Hales and Brendan Taylor fell for seven and two respectively.

However, a 41-ball 67 from Wessels and a 39-ball 46 from Samit Patel lay the foundations for Sammy to smack 19 from 13 on his debut to take the Outlaws to 175-7 after their 20 overs.

Early wickets were crucial for the hosts and Jake Ball and Luke Fletcher obliged removing Mark Stoneman and Phil Mustard.

Paul Collingwood (32) and Calum MacLeod (32) shared in a third wicket stand of 47 to get the Jets back on track before Sammy struck twice in two balls.

That wrestled the momentum back in the Outlaws' favour and with Luke Fletcher hitting his yorkers at the death the hosts ran out 15-run winners despite late fight from Ryan Pringle and Gordon Muchall.

Fri 17 Jul, T20 - Outlaws Win By 42 Runs

In the return NatWest T20 Blast fixture at Chester-le-Street Durham once again run in to an in-form Riki Wessels, bearing the brunt of his batting from the off after deciding to bowl first.

Michael Lumb kicked off proceedings with 31 before it was left to Wessels, James Taylor and Dan Christian to provide further fireworks in setting a mammoth total.

Wessels was the star man, smashing eight fours and five sixes in his 51-ball 97, falling just short of becoming the first Outlaws batsman to score a domestic T20 hundred, a four signalled as leg byes robbing him of the accolade.

A quickfire 37 from captain Taylor and 14 off just six balls from Christian allowed the Outlaws to post an imposing 198-5.

The total always seemed out of reach for the Jets, Steven Mullaney, Samit Patel, Christian, Jake Ball and Harry Gurney amongst the wickets.

A late cameo from John Hastings, 42 off 25, and an unbeaten 30 from Gordon Muchall weren't enough for the hosts as the Outlaws left with a 42-run victory.
