Nottinghamshire have included a duo of returning loanee fast bowlers for the LV= County Championship fixture against Worcestershire starting at Trent Bridge today.

Luke Fletcher and Andrew Carter, recalled from loans at Surrey and Glamorgan respectively, are named in the starting 11 for the home side, who have lost the toss and been invited to bat first.

Jake Ball, who picked up an injury in the NatWest T20 Blast against Northamptonshire Steelbacks on Saturday, is rotated out of the bowling unit along with 19-year-old Luke Wood.

“We need to look at the workload we’re putting on Luke Wood and Jake Ball, two young bowlers who have done terrifically well for us and are, as far as I’m concerned, exempt from any criticism of the way this team has been playing,” Newell explained.

“There comes a point where you can’t keep putting young players out there all the time, if they’re showing signs of tiredness.

“We’re playing a team who are just above us, so it’s a hugely important match and one we want to win. If we play well, we will do that.”

The opening two days of the fixture are streamed live, alongside regular text updates and live scorecard through Trent Bridge Live.
