AB De Villiers said South Africa are becoming obsessed by the ICC Cricket World Cup after a nine wicket quarter final victory over Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lankans were all out for 133 having won the toss and batted first at the Sydney Cricket Ground with the spin duo of JP Duminy, who bagged a hat-trick, and Imran Tahir taking seven wickets between them.
The Proteas raced to the victory target in just 18 overs with Quinton de Kock enjoying a timely return to form, hitting 12 fours on his way to 78 not out off 57 deliveries, his first half-century of the tournament.
South Africa will face either New Zealand or the West Indies in the Semi Final and Captain De Villiers now believes his side can go all the way.
"I'm quietly confident," he said. "I'm always a positive kind of guy and I always believe in big things."
"I spoke to Morne Morkel, who loves fishing, and I said it's almost like you've got the big fish on the hook and you've got to reel it in.
"We had a really good feeling when we came to the ground today. We were almost obsessed with our goal.
"We always knew JP would probably have to bowl ten overs, so for him and Imran Tahir to come on in a crucial stage of the game and perform like that gives the spinners a lot of confidence."
"I got everything from South Africa," Duminy added. "I always feel I have to pay the country back.
"I'm just really pleased and honoured to be part of this team, playing with some great players. I'm just trying to do my role really. It's an absolute honour and I'm really loving it.
"I really don't know what to say. I'm pleased that all my hard work paid off today, what I was thinking about this game and stuff. So yeah, really glad."
