South Africa spun out Sri Lanka for 133 en route to a nine wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the ICC World Cup Quarter Final.

Imran Tahir took 4-26 and JP Duminy a hat-trick as the 2011 beaten finalists collapsed from 69-2 before Quinton de Kock's half-century powered the Proteas to victory with 32 overs to spare.

Sri Lanka won the toss, elected to bat and were quickly 4-2 as Abbott and Steyn accounted for Kushal Perera and Tillakaratne Dilshan respectively inside the opening five overs.

A 65-run third wicket stand between Larihu Thirimanne looked be putting Angelo Matthews' men back on track, only for the introduction of Tahir to turn the game in South Africa's favour.

Thirimanne was caught and bowled by the former Hampshire man for 41 and - although Kumar Sangakkara hung around for 96 balls on his way to 45 - wickets continued to tumble at the opposite end.

Duminy completed career-best figures of 3-29; starting with the dismissal of Matthews who was caught at midwicket for 16, making the score 114-5 off the last ball of the 33rd over.

Tahir dismissed Tissara Perera for nought in the next over and Duminy setup his three-in-three opportunity when Nuwan Kulasekara edged through to de Kock and walked off the first ball of over 35.

And the hat-trick was duly completed when Tharindu Kaushal was lbw next ball, leaving Sri Lanka116-8 having lost four wickets for two runs.

The South African spin duo ended with combined figures of 7-55 off 17.2 overs. Sangakkara, in his farewell appearance, was ninth out, caught at third-man off Morne Morkel.

The Proteas powered to their victory target in 18 overs with Quinton de Kock enjoying a timely return to form, hitting 12 fours on his way to 78 not out off 57 deliveries, his first half-century of the tournament.

Hashim Amla was dismissed by Lasith Malinga for 16; Francois du Plessis finished 21 not out. It was South Africa's first ever win in World Cup knockout cricket.
