Brett Hutton and Anuj Dal starred with the ball as Nottinghamshire’ Seconds enjoyed the best of the final day of their friendly with a Lincolnshire Development XI.

Lincolnshire began the day with Brendan Taylor, guesting for the hosts, and Louis Kimber at the crease but Nottinghamshire soon reduced the score to 11-3.

Hutton had Kimber caught at third slip by Ben Kitt for four, bowled Saqlain Bazmi next ball without scoring and had Nottinghamshire teammate Taylor caught behind for two, all within the first six overs.

After Dan Freeman (24) and Dominic Brown (10) consolidated after the early wobble before Dal (4-23) and Kitt reduced the hosts to 79-8, increasing the chances that the Seconds could push for a result.

However, Jamie Brumby (39*) and Tom Cuthbert (47) extended the Lincolnshire lead to 247, before Hutton (4-21) added his fourth, the hosts declaring on 170-9, leaving Notts 248 to win.

Notts opened with the inform Sam Wood and Dal, the latter adjudged LBW to Joe Peck with eight runs on the board.

Tom Moores joined Wood but only one further run was added before rain interrupted play at the end of the second over.

After a short break, Wood (10*) and Moores (9*) took the score to 23-1 before rain set in and the match was abandoned as no further play was possible.
