Following on from Stuart Broad’s scintillating spell of 8-15 on the opening day, the third morning of the fourth Investec Ashes Test saw England secure the coveted trophy at Trent Bridge for the first time.
Stepping out in front of a packed house, England needed just three second innings wickets to create history in Nottingham.
Ben Stokes, who had ripped through the Australian middle order on the second after, would once again be amongst the wickets whilst crowd favourite Mark Wood provided the finishing touches.
Broad was named man of the match after he his eight-wicket burst on the first morning virtually killed off any Australian hopes of retaining the trophy.
"To get eight for 15 against Australia on my home ground, if I'd have written that script someone would have laughed at me,” said Broad after the match.
Notts Outlaws will face the Essex Eagles in the quarter-final of the NatWest T20 Blast, with a 6.30pm start on Monday 8 August at Trent Bridge, and tickets are on sale now.
