Notts Outlaws fast bowler Jake Ball has been made available for Saturday’s NatWest T20 Blast fixture against the Lancashire Lightning at Trent Bridge, as well as tomorrow’s trip north to face the Durham Jets.
The 25-year-old was yesterday selected for his third successive England squad and could be in line for a Test debut against Sri Lanka at Lord’s on Thursday 9 June.
He has, however, received the blessing of his international coach Trevor Bayliss to feature with the white ball as the Outlaws play two important fixtures in the quest for the quarterfinals.
Ball’s previous home T20 outing saw him produce a match-winning spell of 3-36 in the dramatic last ball victory over the Derbyshire Falcons.
He has since honed his skills with the white ball in nine appearances for the England Lions against Pakistan A in the UAE, taking ten wickets.
“When this block of games comes around everyone loves playing white ball cricket and I can’t wait to get going,” said Ball.
“Last year we averaged over 10,000 a game for T20 cricket – the crowds were fantastic and the atmospheres were unbelievable.
“Last year we tested their patience a little bit with our performances, but they stuck behind us and that’s something we really appreciate in the dressing room. Hopefully we can do something special for them this year.”
Tomorrow’s match against the Jets gets underway at 6.30pm at Chester le Street with the home fixture against Lancashire on Saturday getting underway at 2.30pm.
