Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club will travel to South Africa for its 2018 pre-season tour from 5 to 18 March.

The Club will be based in the North-West Province city of Potchefstroom, and the preparations will include two warm-up games against fellow Specsavers County Division One side Yorkshire.

Notts will take on the Tykes in a two-day game on 12 and 13 March before playing them in a 50-over game on 15 March. Other fixtures are also planned but are still to be confirmed.

Earlier this year, the Club prepared for their successful 2017 campaign with a trip to Barbados.

Head Coach Peter Moores said: “By the time March comes around, the lads will have done lots of indoor work, so it will be great for them to get in some warm weather training and some match practice.

“Yorkshire will give us a strong level of opposition and help see where we are at.”

“With Yorkshire being out in South Africa at a similar time as us, it makes sense for us to play them because it will give us a strong level of opposition and help see where we are at.”

Notts also have arranged a warm-up against Cambridge MCCU at Fenner’s from 1 to 3 April.

The team then begin their 2018 season for real with a Specsavers County Championship Division One match against Lancashire at Old Trafford from 13 to 16 April.

Meanwhile, there were mixed fortunes for Alex Hales playing for the Maratha Arabians in the T10 League in Dubai over the weekend.

The opener made 32 from 15 balls in a five-wicket victory over Team Sri Lanka but then fell for ducks in matches against Punjabi Legends and in the semi-final with Kerala Kings, where the Arabians were defeated by five wickets.
