Nottinghamshire’s Women have got off to a flyer in their T20 campaign as they currently sit undefeated at the top of the ECB Women’s County Championship T20 Division Two.

Head Coach Martyn Kiel has hailed the mood in the squad ahead of their next two games against Derbyshire and Staffordshire on Sunday.

“After four wins from four, we are very positive and have real belief and confidence,” he said.

“Restricting Durham to 91, setting Wales 188 and defending 122 and 125 against Worcestershire and Hampshire has required contributions from everyone.”

When asked what has been the key to the great start, Kiel believes that it has all come from the first two games of the campaign.

“Starting with two wins in the opening round of fixtures was important but I also think the momentum from having beaten Middlesex and Berkshire in the previous round of one-day games was crucial too,” he said.

“The captain also has a lot of options – plenty of variety in the attack to call upon both seam and spin and a real depth in batting.”

In terms of the best moment of the unbeaten run so far, Kiel quickly chose the 159-run stand between Georgie Boyce and Jodie Dibble against Wales.

“The way they hit the ball and punished the Wales bowlers after soaking up some initial pressure was quite brilliant to watch,” he said.

“Wales had fielded in back to back games and it really finished them off.”

However, the coach was keen for the side to not get complacent ahead of their next two games.

“On Sunday it will be important to start from scratch again rather than be complacent and of course we need to keep striving to improve, I believe there is still more left in the tank.”
