Nottinghamshire have two contenders for August’s PCA Player of the Month in the form of Samit Patel and Jake Ball.

The Outlaws duo will be up against Essex’s seamer Jamie Porter and Sussex batsman Chris Nash to be crowned the best player of the last month.

Patel finished second in August’s MVP rankings after impressive performances in the Outlaws passage to T20 Finals Day and in the County Championship game against Northamptonshire.

The all-rounder hit 77 against Warwickshire before a vital 45 from 28 balls and two wickets in the T20 quarter-final against Somerset saw him cap off a successful month.

Jake Ball has also been shortlisted for the award due to his cross-format performances.

He took two five wicket match hauls for the right arm quick against Northamptonshire and Derbyshire in the County Championship and 12 wickets in six T20 games.

Voting for the PCA August Player of the Month closes on September 4 and you can vote for Ball or Patel here.
