Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club age group player Rehan Ahmed has experienced the thrill of bowling in the Lord’s nets at senior England players, aged just 13.

The Thoresby Colliery CC player, who lives in Nottingham, is an up-and-coming leg spinner.

Rehan’s bowling helped England prepare to face fellow ‘leggie’ Devendra Bishoo in a Test match England eventually won by nine wickets.

The teenager, who has already played as high as Under-17 level for the county, was even interviewed about his experiences on Sky Sports News for a piece which will be transmitted during coverage of the upcoming Royal London One-day International Series.

Nottinghamshire’s Elite Pathway Manager Matt Wood, himself a former county player with Notts and Somerset, says Rehan could have a bright future if he continues his current rate of progression.

He said: “Rehan’s a confident lad and a very talented cricketer, who has been with us since Under-11 level.

“He is part of our Emerging Player Programme and has trained with the Academy on Monday nights this summer, so we will continue to try to help develop his game.”
