Nottinghamshire are about to embark on the new 2018 season, where they are back in Specsavers County Championship Division One after a one-year hiatus. Over the course of the next week, trentbridge.co.uk will run the rule over their seven opponents, one each day – with a little bit of help from left-arm seamer Harry Gurney. We start with next week’s first opponents Lancashire.

Lancashire

Captain: Liam Livingstone (pictured).

Head Coach: Glen Chapple.

Championship overseas player: Joe Mennie (Australia).

Championship signings: Keaton Jennings (Durham), Graham Onions (Durham).

Ground: Emirates Old Trafford.

Betting odds: 9-2 (source: Ladbrokes).

Harry says: “It will be two interesting games against them, first up in April and then at Trent Bridge in May, after they finished second last year. They have since made a couple of good signings in the shape of Keaton Jennings and Graham Onions, and have a good overseas too. Old Trafford is a tough place to go as an away side, and they are always tough to beat.
