Nottinghamshire Second XI’s three-day friendly against Yorkshire is finely balanced after a late order collapse saw them surrender a position of strength at Scarborough.

After winning the toss, the visitors were in a strong position at 212-4 after a century stand between wicketkeeper Tom Keast (59, pictured) and Kamau Perera (52).

But Notts then lost their last six wickets for just 20 runs, as Bilal Anjam took 4-12 off 4 overs, before Yorkshire reached 42-2 in their reply.

The hosts found the breakthrough in the seventh over when Solomon Budinger (12) edged a ball from Matthew Waite to Azeem Rafiq at first slip.

Billy Root joined Chris Gibson and together they posted the fifty stand and carried the total to 84 before the former went for 30, edging to keeper Jonathan Tattersall off Ed Barnes’ bowling.

Replacement Lyndon James (4) was bowled by Karl Carver, and, soon after lunch, Gibson’s resistance was ended on when he edged to Tattersall off a ball from Jared Warner, making it 105-4 putting Notts in trouble.

However, Keast and Perera responded superbly as first Keast reach his fifty from 65 balls, with eight fours and one six, and then the past rook the total past 200.

The hundred partnership was completed in the 66th over from 178 balls, but, soon after, Keast was caught at mid-on by Ed Barnes soon after Anjam’s introduction.

Perera went to his fifty from 116 balls, with five fours, but was then trapped lbw by Anjam, leaving the score 224-6 at tea.

In the final session of the day, Matt Carter (5) was caught at mid-wicket by Jordan Thompson off Anjam, while Matt Milnes (8) was taken by Tattersall, a victim of Matthew Taylor.

Liam Patterson-White was the penultimate batsman out as he was Anjam’s fourth victim and Ben Kitt (1) the last to go, bowled by Taylor.

With 26 overs left in the day, Yorkshire commenced their first innings, but Jonathan Tattersall (3) was strangled down the legside by Matt Milnes.

The seam bowler finished with 2-11 as he also ousted Tom Kohler-Cadmore (27) before the close when the batsman edged behind to give Keast a second catch.

At the end of the 14th over, play was halted for bad light and there was no further play in the day.
