Nottinghamshire’s Academy blitzed their way to successive T20 victories in their double-header against a Nottingham City Cup XI yesterday.

The young Outlaws won the opening fixture at Notts Sports Ground by five wickets before finding their most explosive form in the second fixture, blitzing 323-4 in a 209-run triumph.

Kundeel Haider and Jordan Cook shared five wickets to restrict the visitors to 134-8 in the opening game.

Sol Budinger’s 38 set Nottinghamshire on their way. Ben Wilcox and Jordan Cook, who were each unbeaten on 26 at the close, eased the hosts over the finish line with 3.2 overs to spare.

The challenge of batting first in game two brought further fireworks from the Notts line-up.

Budinger slayed 140 off 49 balls – with 11 fours and 14 sixes - before voluntarily ending his innings. Joey Evison’s 75 in the middle-order took just 27 balls.

By the time Chris Gibson (38) and Louis Bhabra (34) completed their unbroken stand of 72 for the fifth wicket, the rampant Outlaws had advanced to 323-4 from their 20 overs.

Cook then took 3-15 with the ball as the City Cup XI mustered just 114-8 from their allocation.
