Luke Fletcher has signed a two-year contract extension with Nottinghamshire.

The 30-year-old will take his association with the Club into its 13th and 14th seasons, having made his debut back in 2008.

Since his first-class bow against Oxford UCCE in April of that summer, the Bulwell Bomber has taken 326 wickets for Nottinghamshire in four-day cricket at an average of 27.87, and has added a further 144 scalps with the white ball.

The right-hander has also amassed 2,503 runs in his time with the Club to date, including five half-centuries.

“I’ve loved every single minute of my time representing Nottinghamshire and I can’t wait to do that for a further two years,” said Fletcher.

“Playing with some great players and winning trophies with good friends are up there as my favourite memories and I’m hoping to create more of them over the next few years.

“We can’t deny that we’ve had an up and down summer, but that makes me even more determined to put in the work to get us back to where we should be.

“I’m hoping we can have a positive end to the Vitality Blast group stages and emulate our achievement of winning the trophy in 2017.”

In a tough summer on the field in the red-ball format, Fletcher has been Notts’ shining light with the ball in hand, topping the Club’s wicket-taking charts with 30 wickets at an average of 26.36.

And with the tall right-armer having ascended to the position of leader of the bowling attack in the four-day game, Director of Cricket Mick Newell is delighted to extend the contract of one of Nottinghamshire’s stalwarts.

“Luke is Nottinghamshire through-and-through and it’s great to have him sign on for a further two years,” said Newell.

“Ever since joining the Club in 2009 it’s been clear how much it means to him to wear the shirt, and he puts in a lot of work off the field to keep putting in the performances he does.

“Even in a tough red-ball summer he has held his head high with ball in hand and we will be looking to him to continue leading by example in the years to come.”
