Notts Outlaws will be looking to follow up Wednesday evening’s success over Northants Steelbacks with victory against their near-neighbours Derbyshire Falcons on Friday 26 July 2019.

The Outlaws will be out to extend their winning streak in Derby to four as they square off against their local rivals in a match that starts at The Pattonair County Ground at 7pm.

Derbyshire have played two matches in this season’s Vitality Blast, winning one and losing the other. They opened their account with victory over Yorkshire Vikings, at Chesterfield last Saturday. On Wednesday evening they were outgunned by a strong batting performance from Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston.

Head-To-Head

Notts Outlaws and Derbyshire Falcons have met on 30 occasions in T20 cricket, although three of the matches weren’t completed due to adverse weather conditions.

Of those that have produced a result, Notts have celebrated 20 victories and lost seven.

Derbyshire’s last win was in their home fixture of 2015, one of only three (2003 and 2005 being the others) victories they have achieved out of the 15 they have hosted.

Notts have won 11 times away, with one other match rained off.

Last Time

Last July Dan Christian scored 62 and Tom Moores hit 53 as Notts scored 175-8 after being inserted in Derby.

New Zealand international Lockie Ferguson took 4-26 for the home side.

The Falcons’ target was adjusted slightly, to 179 from 19 overs, after a short shower.

Scotland international Calum MacLeod scored 48 in the run chase, but with Christian taking three for 34, the hosts were always off the pace and could only muster 139-9, leaving Notts with a 39-run win under the Duckworth Lewis Stern method.

History

2010

In the 2010 match at Trent Bridge, Derbyshire’s Wes Durston scored 111 out of his side’s total of 192 for six. The Outlaws chased down their target with three overs to spare to record a five-wicket victory, but Durston’s innings remains the highest individual score posted against Notts in T20 cricket.

2014

Ahead of the Trent Bridge match in 2014, the home side were given an inspiring pre-match team talk by the then Nottingham Forest manager Stuart Pearce. The former Reds full back highlighted the importance of winning local derbies to his audience and his words produced the desired effects as the Outlaws pulled off a comfortable 27-run victory.

2017

It took 15 years of T20 cricket before Notts eventually had their first centurion in the domestic competition. Playing against Derbyshire at Trent Bridge, opening batsman Riki Wessels reached three figures from only 50 balls.

Wessels, now with Worcestershire, was eventually dismissed for 110, made from 54 balls, with 11 fours and seven sixes.

Notts posted 227-3, their highest score in the series of matches, but only won the match by 5 runs after Wayne Madsen’s unbeaten 86 had taken Derbyshire close.
